Limiting Customer Persona Access

You can limit the menu access a customer using Persona has by blocking the menu item all together or password protecting selected menu items.  Here’s how:

The standard Persona menu looks like the following screen shot:

To block one or more the menu items, add the menu item number(s) to field #19 of the “dialup” parameter codes record.  The following “dialup” paramenter codes record shows menu items 1 and 8 being blocked.

Once you’ve “added the menu items to be blocked, the menu items show up as “n/a”, not available as indicated in the following screen shot.

Sometimes the customer may wish to allow selective access to specific menu items.  Perhaps the customer’s employees are allowed to access all menu items except Order Entry and View A/R Statement (items 1 and 8).  Rather than block the menu items, password protecting the menu items will allow selective access to these menu items.  To allow selective access to menu items 1 and 8, create a “password” codes record as indicated in the following screen shot.

Take note that field #3 contains the customer number (not a password).  Field #8 and 15 contain the actual passwords for menu items 1 and 8 respectively.  When this customer logins in via Persona, menu items 1 and 8 will be available but the user will be prompted for a password before access is granted.
